Cancun Beach Cam

We’re leaving Sunday for Cancun, and I’m excited for my first beach vac! Today, the weather here in NYC is rainy with a chance of snow.  From what I  can tell from the live webcam, snow is not part of the forecast over there.  AND it’s 80+ degrees!

iCarly: iDream in Toons Game Launching This Week

IC_Toons_PCOur first iCarly PC game iCarly: iDream in Toons shipped this week to retailers including Target, Best Buy and Amazon. The video game launches 10.27 but that’s a separate post so you’re going to have to wait.  Excited about the PC game.  This is our first PC game based on a live action show and really, iCarly is THE BEST show to kick this off with.

In the game Carly, Sam, Spencer and the rest of the gang wake up to find themselves in cartoon form.  The game offers hours of play, chock-full of hidden object, spot the difference and word games.

There is a light version of the full PC game in the iCarly Chat n Change toys.  Also select iCarly toys include codes that unlock special items within the Wii and DS games.  I hear that it’s in some stores and more will be shipping this week.   I’ll post pics as soon as I find the toys.

UPDATE on 122 Newton Street: It Lives!

122_newton122 Newton Street is a boutiquy condo building I toured back in April well before it was finished. Well, good news – it’s been finished and is available for your buying pleasure starting at $900k and change. Shane had guessed the approximate cost at around $1.2 million while the Developer’s Group called it $1.1. Not too shabby lol.

So what was the final product? See the before and after pics after the jump!

Company Kids Apparel: Sale + Free S&H

sarahbagsLast month we ordered Sarah some on sale luggage from Company Kids.  Well, initally it was just one rolling suitcase (seen on the left) that looked like a nice size which would replace her tiny Dora rolling backpack and allow her to fit all her clothes for short trips.  Very cute, monogramed with her name and only $40 (not including monogramming).  We ordered it.  Took FOREVER – over 3 weeks forever.  Apparently they were backlogged on the monogramming orders.  I tried to cancel the order but it had already shipped.  Then we got the suitcase: it was HUGE.  Think we ordered the wrong size.  I remembered them having the matching rolling backpack and so we decided to order that one too because we needed something small.   I think I scared them the first time because this order came within 2 weeks despite their warning of long wait times til the monogramming was done.  So The Company Store and I are friends again.

Anyway, they recently launched kids clothing on the site. This is a store known for comforters so it seems a bit of a departure.  Nothing too fancy but the clothes look like good, durable basics.  Last week they sent over a 20% off coupon (code TR9K20F, if you want to see if it’s still valid) plus free S&H.   I thought I’d get a few basics so I can check them out – a few selections plus my favorites after the jump.

New Madison Sabrina Coach Handbag

My ridiculously sweet and thoughtful boyfriend Shane gifted me,  as an early anniversary gift, the perfect handbag: the Coach Sabrina bag!

photo

I had wished for a stylish satchel because it’s convenient to carry it in the crook of your arm, especially when loaded with shopping bags or anything else.  This is  a really nice gray that will pop against my black coat in the fall/winter and remain neutral for spring/summer.   The minimal hardware ensures it will remain a classic during any given year.  And it has a really cool feature: it can convert into a hobo with the use of the shoulder strap.  You can’t tell from the pic but the strap remains attached at the sides and runs underneath the bag, with a flat strap that makes sure it doesn’t dangle like other bags.  The result is a clean, classic look that works for a mom who needed a multitasking, take-with-her-everywhere handbag.

A wonderful addition to my small (albeit growing) handbag collection thanks to Shane’s impeccable taste.

And Our Pet Will Be…

…a Shiba Inu!  They’re wonderful for us because they work with our lifestyle (no one at home during the day), are clean, low shedding (some seasonal) and are very playful.  I’ve had cats before but never a dog so I’m very excited as is Sarah. We visited a local breeder called Ice Wind Farm where the Shibas run wild (within a padlocked area, ie).  Some of them jumped on Sarah at once but she handled it well, saying they needed their nails cut and I have to admit, when 3 jump on you at once with their nails everywhere, you are perfectly entitled to say that.

The only problem is which color to get?  Shibas come in red sesame, black and tan or cream. The cream colored ones are not traditional Shibas – just a FYI.  I’ve found that the red ones look like foxes and the black & tan ones look like proper dogs. Both look like cuddly bear cubs when puppies as you can see:

OMG can’t wait!  Well, we are waiting for the next batch of puppies in November.  Think I’m leaning towards the black and tan but Sarah wants a red one.  What do you think?

Suburban Housewife Training

My first ever visit to Sam’s Club to get the housewarming party supplies. May have gone a bit overboard on some of the supplies. Not the drinks though – can’t ever have enough of that.
